As a teenager, my daughter used to work at the most dangerous McDonald’s in Stockholm. Many violent and drunken customers, and drug addicts trying to shoot up in the toilet. It was open 24/7 and had security guards, but I always used to worry about her terribly. Not only about something happening to her, but also about what she had to see.
Drug addiction is a terrible thing, so I am always torn between drug addicts being safe and families having to see someone overdose while having lunch. Some areas of Sweden offer ‘shooting galleries’ where addicts can have a safe clean space, with clean needles. But I am so torn about that too. Life is never black and white, is it?
