Hopefully, by the time you read this we will be on our way to Tenerife. We are due to leave our home at 04.30am!
When we went to the travel agent to find out what options there were regarding our trip to South Africa (cancel, rebook, or travel as planned), we spotted a fantastic special offer for a week in the Canary Islands. After we cancelled our SA trip, we decided to book. [as an aside, what a pleasure to deal with an actual travel agent rather than do it ourselves online. They know all the fine print and special offers.
We fly from Stockholm to Tenerife (food on plane included woohoo), have a bus transfer to the hotel, where we will have our own apartment. We booked daily breakfast at the hotel, but the rest of the time we will keep to ourselves and get some sun and good walks in. I will be working while I am there but it will be nice to do it in the sunshine. I have been working from home for going on two years now, and the winter darkness has been getting to me.
We are both triple-vaccinated and will, of course, wear masks, keep to ourselves, and follow all rules while we are there. I imagine the plane carries a lower risk of infection than our public transport, because Sweden does not have a mask mandate.
Stockholm Arlanda airport has four terminals, but only one is open at the moment so we have to be at the airport really early (about three hours before the flight leaves) because processing times are long. We had to complete multiple registrations online and for the hotel. Luckily the EU covid passport is pretty efficient.
