Personally, I think many of our traditional male/female characteristics came from this stage in our evolution.
Men were the hunters so were very focused, and had almost tunnel vision. Women were the gatherers who also had to take care of the children. As a result, women can multitask, are more observant and have better peripheral vision. This could also be why men have a higher tolerance for dust bunnies and dishes in the sink than women do.
Even today, when most women work full time, they still take care of most of the unpaid labour in the home. I imagine that some women have been raised that way, but for me, there seems to be more of an instinctive imperative to tidy and do small chores in the evening after work, instead of saving it until it becomes a huge mountain. I can’t sit still if I see a sock on the floor, for example.
