Fluffy passed peacefully across the rainbow bridge this evening. Our hearts are broken but the gift of freedom from suffering is the greatest act of love an owner can give a pet.
He was my feline soulmate. He got me through a divorce and being made redundant from my job while alone in a foreign country. He was constantly happy and hungry and purry, loved by everyone from cat-sitters to neighbours to staff at the vets. He slept with me every single night and cuddled with me every day. His purring soothed my soul and he made the best biscuits on his favourite blanket. The hole he has left is enormous. I never realised the human body could produce so many tears and that a heart – a simple muscle – could hurt so much.
He was eleven years old and fought so bravely right to the end.
